New Year, New Beginnings? Let's hope!!

I have been busy, such a lovely operative word that gets used too much. Sigh, but is never the less, true.  MY husband lost his job in September, I started a job in October.  Good timing, I know.  For me it is a lot of adjustment from having your own business, setting your own hours, to going on the clock again.  Having hubby home, when his hours from work, he has been a truck driver for 30 some years,  varied, but I could have a good amount of free time.  I love to paint, knit, just create, and then add in the kids, and grandchildren.  Makes life full right there.

Changes.   I choose to believe are for the good, for my good, and for our good.  We will see what comes, what life brings.  Some day's I feel as though I am just hanging on for dear life. Praying, crying, or just choking them back...I do find joy, have joy, peace, you bet.  God IS in control no matter how my life seems to spiral out of control, my control that is.  Either I believe He is for me, or not, that He is real and therefore involved in my life, or not.  I choose to believe against all hope, hope that I feel has been deferred in my life over and over.  Dreams that have been crushed beyond measure...but the flame still flickers.  Which means there is life in them, those things, dreams, hopes.  So...I will continue, doing what I know to do, learning as I go.  Believing....

Here is some more paintings, and I wlll get some more pictures of knitting on from Christmas, yikes, I know.  It is a step for me, to pour out, and put ME out here again....I choose, I am strong, I will make it....this IS for a season, and this too shall pass...

Well, 45 minutes later, no pictures.  won't upload...will try later... back to the helps ticket.

Paintings of Fall!

I am finally getting a collection going where my paintings are concerned.  How can I not paint the most beautiful season of all...Autumn.

IMGP1562

I love this one with trees and color...I used acrylic with misted water as I went, it is also painted on a "watercolor" canvas.  I found I really liked this material.

IMGP1565

This one I just finished this week, inspired by pumpkins, and my favorite mums!

IMGP1581

I am surprised I was able to get anything done, creatively speaking.  I just took a job at our school in town here.  We live right across from it, so is great on gas milage..ha ha...my husband is out of work so will be working as custodian on the 3-11 shift.  They have great benefits, so am thankful to God for getting the position.  The work is very physical and alot of walking is involved....among other things.  I have decided to look at as my excercise program... So was glad that I finally felt like painting still since that is my first love.  Here is one finished today.

IMGP1582

More views....

IMGP1577

IMGP1567

This one is not so much fall, painted on an applied texture to canvas technique.  Then painted with acrylic, washes, and layering.

IMGP1584

IMGP1585

This last one is NOT fall, but shows the "pureness" of summer, simple, and fresh.

Moments of Art

Sharing some artful moments to kind of catch up on so many things....here is a sign that Ruth wanted painted for above her kitchen sink area.

IMGP1454

My friend, Helene had a birthday in September, so I painted a rendition of her home, and gardens.

September uproar!

Seems like September arrived with a bang, I'm hear, like me or not!  It makes people think of last winter and how much snow we had, and the cold.  Seems like it's coming on quickly, what with the Farmers Almanac saying we are to have 150" of snow, what IS that about...really??!  And cold, hey we expect cold, it's winter...in Wisconsin, and snow, yea we have snow....but 150"?  Last year they said we had like 100", and let me tell you living in town, there was no place left to put any snow.  I had left out my Adirondack chairs, and they were literally buried!! That's snow. Like when I was a kid snow!

Well enough of that! I have tons to update here, and it's time to get crack-a-lac-kin!

I seem  to be able to blissfully type away, as I was not previously able to before what with all the changes they have been making with Typepad!  So am quite excited about that, I will see when I upload my images what that will or won't do.

Now...to fall...my favorite time of year. I am knitting....always knitting.  We have a delightful new addition to our family, a girl.  Olivia Jade, she is the daughter to my son, Jeremy and wife, and favorite daughter in-law, Jessie.

DSCF0054                      She is a button for sure!!!

Also have been painting, a lot, house and my canvas work.  We also, are working on family things, mixed in with a wedding, birthdays, and a funeral.  So life is as life is.  You just keep picking yourself up, praying, and going on.  Taking the joys that come, and the buffering of sadness, and changes.   We are either strengthened by them or, they will crumble us.  I find I must have some me time.  Some quiet, some comfort food, and yarn, knitting, and maybe just a bit of wine!

I will post more has I am trying this new stuff out, and will get my photos from my camera uploaded and organized...later people's!

More paintings

So far so good with the posting, there is still some gliches!  Hopefully they  n will get worked out soon!

This painting was a commisioned one.  Her wedding was in a castle with this tower.  Her wedding flowers, bird of paridise, lillys, were the main flowers. Again lots of texture and laying in of colors and design.

IMGP1357There is also lace added to the picture and some beading.

Well it's screwing up now so I guess this post is done!

      IMGP1373                                                                                                                                                     IMGP1360

Lots of stuff to catch up on! Jessie's baby shower!

I will try to catch up on everything that has been going on!  IMGP1273This is the baby quilt I had been working on. Jessie, my daughter in-law and I, had gone shopping to pick out the colors and prints that she would like.

Of course, this was done the week of the shower!

Here is the finished quilt, it is roughly crib size. It is machine pieced and machine quilted.

IMGP1276

IMGP1278                   I used variegated thread for the quilting and I think it turned out very nice. Most of all Jessie was thrilled!  The shower was a hot hot humid day, with severe storms and tornado's sirens going off!  We had a houseful, and were able to enjoy ourselves even when many had headed downstairs!IMGP1282 The shower cake depicted a pond theme like the baby's room, with lilypads, dragen flys, and a frog of course! Chocolate cake with home made raspberry filling, and butter creme frosting.  It was a huge YUM!!! Which what I went through to make it I found it to be astonishing that it even resembled a cake!

IMGP1289               IMGP1291

Here is the haul of presents!!! She got so many useful and just beautiful things for the new baby! She, Olivia Jade will be so excited!  I am sure she enjoyed the day through Moms excitement!

IMGP1299Here is Jessie opening up presents. Her sister, Becky, sitting next to her, and their Mom. and I  put on the shower for her. It was a good collaboration!   Well done girls!

IMGP1293                             Honey, you look absolutely radiant, and beautiful!  I am so proud of you!

A Quick Note!

I will try again to post!   Typepads updating is a slow process, with many bumps, and I for one am not happy with them....I know that I just need have patience though!!   I have been very busy,  getting both my decks stained.  They now look very rich and nice.   The garden is mostly in, and even growing.   Soon I will be having some lovely lettuces, and my wheat grass for juicing again!!!  Very excited about that!   I am still painting, and finishing up things,  knitting, a baby quilt, etc, for an up and  coming baby shower for my son and daughter in-law.  SHE, will be coming end of August.  Very exciting, as the coming birth of all my grandchildren has been!  I will post more pictures has Typepad enables me, still is slow, and scary has things freeze up and DISAPPEAR!  Which is frustrating having to type out the "blah blah" for the 100th time!!!!! Till then, keep breathing, keep creating!.....

Mothers Day!

Imgp1188 Mothers day was very special this year.  My daughters had me meet them at the Olive Garden to eat!  We had a great time, and enjoyed the meal much, laughed, and relaxed.  I'm sure it was a gift for them as well!  I received cards from all my children and daughter in-law!  Grandchildren as well.  Found myself very "full" of being loved indeed!  Thank you all for your special part in my day!

After I got home, I just spent the time finishing up a few touches for Imgp1181 Sunday,  I was having my Mother, sisters and family come for lunch.

I lit my newfound candle holder, enjoyed my picked before the rains came, tulips, and was thankful in my heart for the showers of goodness of my Lord and savior Jesus!

Imgp1201

Imgp1189 May all Mothers be strengthened, blessed, and know their worth and place that is upon them as we nurture, give and do everyday many times with no thanks, or no one to cheer them on!

Paris Swap! Birthday Party and Painting!

Sweet Goodness Swaps had another good swap, I just had to be a part of!  Paris in the Springtime!  My partner was Julie, from California!  A very sweet gal, mother, wife.  Very creative and special!  Her blog spot and shop is here.  Joy's Hope!  This is what she sent me...I just loved it all!  A box, chock full of Joy's goodness!  Paris themed Imgp1177 sign, stickers, chocolate! Milk glass vase, yarn, cards, a beaded ornament of my last name initial!  Wonderful...thank you again Julie!

I had the pleasure of meeting some new women has we celebrated a mutual friend of ours...Marsha!  She is also my kineseologist!  My "health doctor".   God has really used her in my life and in many lives as well!  May she continue to be blessed with all that she needs in every way!Imgp1156

We all had a great afternoon of sharing in her day!  Imgp1158 Love you Marsha!

On another note!  I have felt that...being led, again, to paint!  So I amImgp1196, different than before.

Love it!

Imgp1198 Very layered, textured, with a message that is only known in the interpretation of the viewer!  I have to say the photo's don't do it justice.  I will try to take some more!

Raw Cooking

I find I have some time today to catch up on my blog.  It has been a busy 2 weeks.  Alot of spring cleaning has been accomplished!  It is a good feeling!  I also got the "dreaded" cleaning of the pond done....bad this year from the heater malfunctioning over winter and  killing all my fish.  I was not a happy camper!

Washed all the curtains, cleaned windows, and wiped down sills and walls!  The sheers were just "special", billowing in the warm breeze coming thru the now opened windows. aaah, long awaited for!

Raw cooking, here are a few of my trysImgp1074 at this.  Spiced squash...yum!  I will make this again.

Just cut up onion, yellow summer squash, and zucchini.  Then add oregano, dill, sage, basil, fresh ground black pepper,  olive oil, and sun-dried tomato's.  The ones already packed in good oil, or soak the actual dried ones.  This recipe  comes from the book by Carol Alt, the RAW 50.  Lots of good stuff in there!

Cucumber, avocado soup...oh, a suImgp1069mmer must! You know what I will be planting in my garden!

Add to your blender, cucumbers, avocado, dill, fresh squeezed lemon juice, celery stalkImgp1072_2

Just a bit of water at the end, but only after you see the desired thickness.

I then topped it with some paprika, a bit of turmeric.Imgp0959

Really good, and I can see this will really be good and cooling in the summer months.

This is one version of many I have seen, a raw apple pie. EASYImgp1076 ! Almonds and some dates are first put in the food processor.

You process that till it looks like this....Imgp1077  It will start to "clump" a bit.

Then just press all of that into a nonstick dish.Imgp1079

Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of it PRESSED!  But you get the idea!

This is your "crust".

The filling is dates, apples, Imgp1078 cinnamon, nutmeg!  Process till it is carmel like.

This is the finished product.  It is to die for. So flavorfulImgp1068 !  Keep in the fridge, enjoy!

Imgp0960 Another sweet treat! A vanilla pudding!  Made with avocado, vanilla, and raw agave nectar.  Whir that up in the blender. Top with fresh fruit, I had strawberries...yes it did taste and texture out like actual vanilla pudding!

I also do alot of green smoothies. They are really good and just lift you up energy and I even think brain-wise.  There are days I need that!

Those usually consist of frozen fuit, say raspberries, banana, some water, lots of spinach, agave nectar, cuts the too green taste, bee pollen, flax, and chi seeds.  Whatever hits me to add. whir in blender. and it's a meal!  I will continue, I am learning, it IS worth the "rethinking" one must do.  I atleast feel I am finding some recipes that I like and am adding to my daily  foodings!   I have done some sprouting and using the dehydrator.  That is something I need to work on still.

April 07, 2008

Cleaning out the garden, the yard,

Saturday, was such a beautiful day, I raked and burned, took down the "winter". The wreathes, the winter flag.  Cleaned out all my pots of evergreen.  Ready now for planting!Imgp1126

I gave my garden gloves a good workout!  It amazes me that I do all the clean-up work, in the fall, raking, cutting back, cleaning off the garden.  And come spring there is still so much to do!  My friend Helene, had a very clever idea, use the weed trimmer. to cut back, or to clear out areas.   Boy, am I gonna do that, even now she said. I have some Veronica vine, or is it periwinkle...hmmm,

anyway am gonna weed wak it down to the dirt to thin it out!

I also broke down and put away my winter purse and dug out my spring/summer one.  It was a Imgp1114 find at TJ Max  LOVE IT!!

Then today came, Monday, cold, wind, wet....YUK!  sigh, Spring will come, it has too!

And stay too!

Moving Along, I think...

Finally got my first socksImgp1110 knitted and done.  They are a bit looser than I would like.  I love the color way, the browns, some greens.

It's a wool blend.

Lost the wrapper so can't give specifics.  They were  hand dyedImgp1112_2.

Then I washed them, a little to long in the washer...not good...Imgp1127

They came out alittle felted, which was good as far as the stitches, being a bit too loose and open.  But now, they are really short, they still fit. sigh, I will continue on this sock knitting venue...they...are not the boss of me...hmph!

Over the weekend I started working on a project for a certain someonImgp1117e who is my partner in a swap.

Love the way it turned out.  I also  did some creative machine embroidery.  Very fun.Imgp1119

I could not resist joining the Paris in the Springtime Imgp1120 swap.

I am working on more designs to use in my Imgp1123 bags, pictures, pillows, etc,  Hoping soon, to be opening my own Etsey shop!

I find this work, flowing for me, and "working" creatively Imgp1124 onto the direction I think I am too go!

Ponderings...

20033

April.   Spring.   New.  Dreams.  A Vision.  Hope.   Waiting.  Questions.   Pondering.

I am sewing, have always sewed.  Literally,  what now, tote bags. Useful, fun, good gifts, ??

Knitting, always knitting, now, can't seem to knit a short sock row without becoming ill, and I mean nauseous.

Eating,   trying,    totally raw,   feel great when I am on it totally,  I am learning how, new recipes, ways of fixing food, and  food shopping.  I do, now have some favorites, that even a non-raw foodists would I think, love.

Wanting to weave, just throw myself into it,  do it!  Experience and enlarge that venue!

Painting, oils, watercolors,   also a huge desire in me.

I have learned with my knitting, having not grown up doing it, dabbled in it when I was a young mother, threw it down, and put it away, I am left handed, and there was nobody to show you, and no directions that were for you.

But then when the kids were gone, I picked it up, I knitted scarf after scarf. Then hand warmers, a start to a sweater or tank, many times over...then just over a year ago, I made a promise to myself to knit, everyday, even if it was just a row.   To try new things,  it worked, I knitted socks, lace, sweaters.  Learned cables, short rows, better at the basics, and the shaping.  Still growing into new things with it...it is a love.

But then there is sewing, quilting.   Fitting in all the things that I do love to do, and want to do.  There are still things out there that interest me so much it hurts... You live with that when you are a creative person, when you allow yourself to be an  ARTIST!  I use to hate  the word, it was not a good word, people only associated "crafty" with it...I hated that word.  I saw crocheted kleenex boxes, and plastic needlework objects, barbie doll clothes...

Now, in society, and I think because of the internet, you can be an artist, and have respect for whatever you medium is.  That, after all these years, is nice, not that having that recognition makes it more so.  You, (I), were an artist, first, no matter if it was accepted or not, we were.

So now, pondering what all these pieces that I do, and are a part, not a whole of my life, my creating in each day, means. How do, will they fit together, where are they leading me too.  Trusting in God, as He unfolds His plan in my life, in my work, will I pray tell soon.  We must enjoy the process, even when we don't understand it, or know where it is leading us.  It will make sense, for His ways are higher than ours. He leads us on a path, we don't know, so that we will trust Him, His love for us.  His using the "things" in our life to teach us, grow us. Bless us!  Whether you believe it or not, He is not religion, He is the person, of God, sent to die for our sins.  So we could have abundant life, yes to KNOW where you are going in the after life.  But NOW, where you are, with what you are living, going through.    All of it.  Waiting for you to come to Him, for He is a gentleman and will not push or impose Himself onto anyone. Waiting for you to give Him what is hard, hurting,  bad, wrong.  He will turn it around, into something good, for you, for me, He will make sense of it all, by His spirit, as you allow Him into your heart.  Healing you, touching you, wiping away the tears, the sorrow.  Turning you mourning into dancing!   So I will hope, and wait on my Lord, for He knows the way I must take, and I TRUST Him!  Fully!Etching

He knows the very number of hairs upon our head...why do you worry, does He not feed the sparrows and care for them, how much more will He care for you....

Spring Break!!!@ Grandma's!

We started out our week with the makiImgp0961ng of yarn bird nests.  We made a wire frame, free form style.  Then we wove in soft colored yarn.  Some were hung out in bushes and trees, for the birds to gather from, for their nests!   They enjoyed it....MUCH!

A close up look at the nests!Imgp0999

Imgp0986

Next!  Much     SEWING!!Imgp0963 !

We started on our pocket wall hangings.

They were fun, giggly, but all about the project at hand and the process it needed to takeImgp0965  to  "get er' done!"

Colin encouraging Kaeyla!  Imgp0970 And awaiting his turn!

Finally it was his turn, they all kept Grandma pretty busy!  One would be doing one thing, and the other, something else.  I was instructing and doing the prep work needed to keep things Imgp0971_2 running like......clockwork?

They really did do well, they found there was a lot of things to remembImgp0973er when running the sewing machine.  And that it takes alot of different steps to complete the project as desired!

They picked the fabrics they wanted, then I pressed out different sizes of squares and rectangles that would be the "pockets".  They put them in the format they wanted on the canvas background.

I stayed up the first night to get all the straps sewed that would be used for the hanging.  We went out and gather branches from the yard.....there were plenty Imgp0982_2 with this winter we have had!!!  I cut those to the length needed.....

Pockets were made by cutting the size wanted, very random, I aImgp0977ssure you, and sewn.  Which the kids did, then they had to turn them right side out, and press.

I helped with that so that corners were turned out nicely.  A large knitting needle did well wImgp0978ith that job, which after I showed them that, they could do that as well.

I turned under the final edges,

and gave it a final press.Imgp0980

They were than layed out in a manner that was pleasing too them.Imgp0981_2

Kayela helping!  Hey MOImgp0983M!  She can iron.....

Imgp0984 We also had to add some fun beading trim on the girl's hangings!

You are probably wondering where my third child was....being 4, she was not too mucImgp0985h interested in the sewing part.  She had definite opinions on what she wanted for fabric, and trim.    She found my new pin cushion, so....she was put to work putting in the all the new pins....which she loved, then in my old one too.  Some were dropped on the carpet, were quickly found...unfortunately, my sewing room is also my bedroom....YIKES!!

She also spent time with Papa! We have a toy chain saw, appropriate if you know that we have cut wood for years.

Imgp0967_2

Well...she decided....too....well....

cut off Papa's....leg.

He would make painful noises, that we could hear upstairs....we would laugh....only at Grandma's...

She throughly enjoyed herself too!  She like playing with Imgp0968 our dog, Humphrey too.  Though he stayed clear of the chain saw!!!!

We found we, (I) needed to decorated the branches to make them loImgp0989ok more believable, nature-ie.

So I felted some caterpillars, and a butterfly.  We put some beads on for eyes, and some on their body as well....Quit roll'in your eyes.....they WERE cute!!

Buttons were added, cause, hey, buttons ARE fun too!

Up close!Imgp0990

Imgp0992

Imgp0994
