It is March, good, let spring begin. One always likes new beginnings. I take as many as I can get, my birthday, always a marked moment of time to reflect, reconnect, and move forward. The beginning of a new year does that as for most others. And Spring! My doctor visit, and test results have pushed me, (one does need to be pushed sometimes), especially in the area of health. I know I need to lose weight, but that seems to go to the back burner, what with "stuff" one deals with daily, general busyness, events, outings. They always involve food of some sort, and unfortunately not the kind you "should" have. Well now I am motivated, and must keep my focus on health, growing healthy-er, is that a word. No matter what, I'm 50, I will, and am embracing that, whatever that really means...but I'll go along with it....kind of have to, but we won't tell myself that...It's how do you feel, what is your thinking. Are you the stuck in the mud type. Not open to anything, let alone new things. Are you trying new things, keeping your mind and creative juices moving...I do that, it's the "physical" self that is not moving to much...Enter changes... am walking. Will work up to running. I actually love that. I forgot that. RAW FOODs.... different indeed...healthy...you bet. Salads, with lots of greens, vegetables, nuts...good actually, and satisfy the "chewing" one needs. Juicing, cause Honey, if I had to EAT that whole mixing bowl of greens and such....no way. I would choke. But juice it and wow. What do you feel like. Not hungry, I know, I couldn't believe it either. ENERGY. Like you can't believe! Skin clears up. Course I am taking different supplements too, like an amino calcium, Vitamin A & D, (a good oil), Activated Charcoal, to pull out the toxins, that you probably have anyway, but more so when you are losing weight,. plus the cholesterol. A joint support blend. B-12, A blend of trace minerals for my thyroid. and a couple of other things. In 3 days I was feeling better. I do believe in my Kineseologist though. This is my choice, I know, to not go on medication. I could go on, results first, as I journey on. But onto my projects, I'm a project girl!
I did get all my evergreen down through out the house, and gave it a "fresh" spring look!
It's always fun to decorate the fireplace mantle!
I decided on teapots, saucers, and my birds.
I used berry garlands, nests, tea bags, lavender in containers, and birds.
This will stay all spring into summer, until fall, when all I do is add the fall leaf sprigs through out the whole mantel.
Easy-sneezy!
The living room doesn't take as much to do, just the glass table by the window.
Now if that snow would just leave....
My knitted purse was really fun to make and didn't take all that long to do. A cable pattern, which can be found here, at Yarniverse.com, then on the list, click on free patterns, and the purse will come up, call Twin Cable Purse. I modified mine as to the handle that I could find that I liked. I also made mine longer in the knitting stage.
This is the inside, I lined it also, and added lots of pockets. The lining was hand sewed in place, a crocheted flower with button accent, and chain stitched loop that goes over the whole flower for closure. Used it, loved it, and it worked.
Another picture showing the intended look can be seen here, at Cote' Passions, February 29th post. Love this girls work!!!
Was able to squeeze in the baby "frog" hat! This can be found here, at Flint Knits in the November 9th post. The frog was her modified versions from Hello Yarns. Which is a bunny, but you need her pattern to begin. PDF free download available!
My daughter in-law, Jessie, collects frogs, and is expecting. SO we just had to do this HAT!
How cute is that?!
In a previous post I showed a toted bag I had made, well it's filled and ready to go to it's destination!
Hope she likes it!!!
She did!!! A bath pillow, Lavender essential oil. Books, A plug in essential oil diffuser. Bath stuff. Aaaah, so she can relax...
Love this design, From Drops, and is free! Found here!
I made the first one in Black from Classic Elite, llama wool. I do love this yarn. The feel of it has it is worked up, the look, the drape, and the softness. Although it is not a thin yarn. I have made countless things with it and plan on still making a cardigan/jacket out of it one day. I even have the pattern found!
Then I had to have Grey, this is alpaca, and I love it too! The only thing I did different was instead of having to "safety pin" the flower on ugh! I sewed a button on the back of the crocheted flower, and just put that thru the stitches to attach! Worked perfectly!
This can also be seen at Cote' Passions! The September 28th post! She made hers in a creme alpaca....yum yum!
A fun quick project was to decoupage a picture on a wooden unfinished bird house. Using a napkin! Love the idea and it worked rather well. Would I like to do 10 of these...NO.
You just cut up the napkin to fit design wise. Paint on the decoupage product. Place your "napkin" where you want it, and put more decoupage on top. Let dry, a long while...wha la...! '
The "Birdhouse" Cafe
Love, Love this drawstring bag! An Amy Butler pattern, with a few modifications.
When I make another one I will make more adjustments for more versatility!
It will be a gift for someones Birthdaaaay coming up!
Until again, smile, laugh, but most of all...B R E A T H E!
